RevolutionParts Launches New Product to Protect Dealers From Sales Tax Compliance

PHOENIX, AZ, September 4, 2020 — RevolutionParts announced the launch of their newest solution, RevolutionParts Marketplace Tax Comply (MTC), a significant addition to their existing dealership eCommerce platform that removes the burden of sales tax compliance from the dealer.

“MTC enables dealers to focus on growing their sales without having to worry about time-consuming sales tax collection processes,” said Ibrahim Mesbah, co-founder and CEO of RevolutionParts.

RevolutionParts identified the need for a tax compliance service both from customer requests and the growing number of states looking to enforce marketplace facilitator laws. These laws shift the obligation of tax compliance from the seller to the platform they are using to sell.

Through MTC, RevolutionParts assumes all tax liability associated with out-of-state online part sales. This means they act as the seller in states their customers do business, thus assuming the responsibility for collecting, remitting, and reporting on sales tax.

“Amazon and Ebay are huge marketplaces that already handle tax compliance,” Mesbah said. “We saw a need with our own dealers’ parts websites and wanted to protect our customers from this potential liability.”

Mesbah added that RevolutionParts is the only parts selling platform in the industry that now offers this type of service.

“We are trying to stay ahead of the curve and constantly improve our platform for the benefit of our customers,” he said.

To build MTC, RevolutionParts worked in collaboration with Avalara, one of the leading experts in online tax compliance. This service is provided for free to all RevolutionParts customers selling less than $50k a month with a nominal fee after customers surpass that threshold.

“For us, It’s important that we stand by our mission to create a simple solution that makes it easier for our customers to sell more parts.” Mesbah said. The MTC feature is integrated with the existing RevolutionParts platform, which eliminates any lengthy configurations or integrations for both new and existing customers.
